Pink Floyd guitarist and singer David Gilmour earlier this year announced plans to sell 120 instruments from his guitar collection in order to raise money for his charity foundation.
Gilmour revealed the news in a short video in which he explained that he's been hoping to do a massive sell-off for the past 30 years and finally got the will to follow through. The auction will take place at Christie's this June 14 - 19.
Proceeds from the sale of the guitars will go to a slew of charities with which Gilmour has worked in the past, including Amnesty International, Battersea Dogs and Cats Home, Cancer Research, Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity, Oxfam, Women for Refugee Women and many others.
Among the instruments going to auction are several crown jewels that are inextricable from Gilmour's Pink Floyd legacy.

The auction headliner is Gilmour's vaunted black Fender Stratocaster, which was used on every Pink Floyd album from 1970 onward and in hundreds of live shows. In particular, the guitar was used to record "Money," "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" and the guitar solo on "Comfortably Numb."
The guitar has Gilmour's handiwork all over it, having been modified "dozens" of times over the years. Gilmour says the only thing he never changed on the black Strat was the paint job. It is expected to sell for more than $150,000.
"These guitars have been very good to me," he told Rolling Stone in January. "They're my friends. They have given me lots of music. I just think it's time that they went off and served someone else. I have had my time with them. And of course the money that they will raise will do an enormous amount of good in the world, and that is my intention."
Also for sale is the Ovation acoustic used on "Comfortably Numb" and at hundreds of live concerts; a white and gold Stratocaster used on "Another Brick in the Wall" with the serial number 0001; a '55 Gibson Les Paul used on "Another Brick in the Wall, Part 2"; and a Martin D-35 used on the Wish You Were Here album.
The collection is on display at Christie's on King Street in London through March 31. The guitars will be displayed again in Los Angeles May 7 - 11.
