Foreigner Announce Farewell Tour Beginning Summer 2023

Foreigner plans to launch its 'Historic Farewell Tour' next summer with support from Loverboy.

The North American tour kicks off in Georgia on July 6 and concludes September 6 in Holmdel, NJ.

The band has promised more U.S. and international tours, however, before taking its final bows around the end of 2024, according to Billboard.

Guitarist and founder Mick Jones, the only continuing member of the band from the '70s, acknowledges that the decision to say goodbye was not easy.

“Foreigner is a completely revitalized band with a whole new energy that has won the hearts of our fans all over the world, and I want to go out while the band is still at the top of its game,” Jones said. “I had the idea that was to become Foreigner back in 1974, and I was 30 years old at the time. By the end of our farewell tour, over 50 years will have passed, and that’s a long time to be on the road.”

The core of the current Foreigner lineup has been in place since about 2005. Jones, now 77, has even deemphasized his own place in the band's live shows in recent years, due to health issues.

While the band is contemplating an end to its live performing career, Jones and company are considering releasing more music in the next few years. Singer Kelly Hansen and bassist Jeff Pilson say the band has new material "in different stages of completion" that might find the light of day at some point, as an EP or a single.
