Quiet Riot is calling off plans to play a socially-distanced July 4 outdoor concert in Arkansas due to "serious health concerns."
The cancellation comes a week after drummer Frankie Banali was admitted to the emergency room with an infection amid his battle with pancreatic cancer battle.
Banali thanked his fans for their well-wishes and later clarified that he believed he would be back home soon. His wife, Regina, pointed out in a subsequent post that Banali has been admitted to the emergency room several times during his cancer battle.
Two weeks ago, the drummer confirmed that Quiet Riot had been granted approval for an audience of up to 3,000 at its gig at Magic Spring Theme and Water Park in Hot Springs, Arkansas. He acknowledged at the time that the show could be canceled at any moment, due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Molly Hatchet and Blackfoot will still be performing as planned, according to Magic Springs.
"I'm still waiting to see what's gonna happen," he told Eddie Trunk. "Because you don't know if two weeks out, or a week out, before the show, all of a sudden that park of Arkansas gets shut down, locked down, the show is canceled or postponed to another date."
As in many U.S. states, coronavirus cases in Arkansas have been steadily increasing for weeks.
Since Banali's immune system is compromised while he undergoes chemotherapy, he is at even greater risk of developing serious complications should he contract COVID-19.
