South Carolina has 10th Fewest Coronavirus Restrictions

A recent study produced by WalletHub ranked South Carolina as the state with the 10th fewest restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic. When compared to the rest of the United States and the District of Columbia, South Carolina was reported to have a very low amount of restrictions including those that pertain to re-opening of child-care programs. WalletHub's study considered data that included whether or not states have penalties for non-compliance with COVID-19 legislation. These penalties would encompass face mask requirements, restrictions on large gatherings and required health checks at restaurants.

South Carolina was found to rank the following in regards to COVID-19 restrictions:

  • 29th – Requirement to Wear a Face Mask in Public
  • 23rd – Workplace Temperature Screening
  • 1st – Reopening of Child-Care Programs
  • 9th – Travel Restrictions
  • 2nd – Large Gatherings Restrictions
  • 7th – Strictness of “Shelter in Place” Order
  • 6th – Reopening of Non-Essential Businesses
  • 2nd – Reopening of Restaurants and Bars
