Significant Flooding in Charleston; Roads closed including Crosstown

CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC) - Many roads were flooded and drivers were forced to detour in many areas Friday morning around the Lowcountry

Charleston police asked motorists to delay travel to downtown because of flooded streets and said the Crosstown is currently closed because it's impassable.

The Awendaw-McClellanville Fire Department also reported pooling on Highway 17 and drivers should use between lower and upper Doar Road before the Awendaw Creek Bridge.

The city of North Charleston said Cosgrove at Remus, Dorchester at Remus and Carner at Jacksonville are all closed.

A tree also fell across Ashley River Road at Dogwood Road.

Some cars also got stuck in the area of Morrison Drive in downtown Charleston and drivers had issues on the Crosstown as well.

The Charleston School of Law says it won't open until 12 p.m. because of the flooding.

This is a developing story. Please check back for more updates as they become available.
