Halloween 2018: Kid-Friendly Events in Charleston

What a wonderful time of the year to be in Charleston! The weather is finally breaking, the humidity is dropping, and spooky Halloween season is officially here!

Charleston has a ton of Halloween events for your family. Whether you want to go to the pumpkin patch or a safe place to trick or treat, we've got you covered. Plus, if you're looking for something more scary you can check out the Most Haunted Places in Charleston or Boone Hall Fright Nights

Check out the list below to find all the fun family-friendly activities going on around the Lowcountry this Halloween! 

Boone Hall Pumpkin Patch & Boone Hall Fright Nights 

Visit Boone Hall Plantation off of Long Point Rd. in Mount Pleasant for the Family Friendly Pumpkin Patch! The Boone Hall Pumpkin Patch is open this year from September 29th through October 31st

With lots of fun activities for the whole family aside from the pumpkin patch check out the WEZL Corn Maze, jump pillow, slide tower, petting zoo, hay rides, sand pit, climbing wall, corn hole, food vendors, and much much more! The Boone Hall Pumpkin Patch is open Monday-Saturday 9 AM - 6 PM and Sundays from 11 AM - 6 PM

For those families with teenagers or older kids check out Boone Hall Fright Nights open Thursday-Sunday nights in September and October! Fright Nights feature 4 separate spooky attractions: The Farm House, The Clearing, The Corn, and The Woods Haunted Hayride.  Boone Hall Fright Nights are open Fridays & Saturdays from 7:15 PM - Midnight and Sundays and Thursdays from 7:15 - 10 PM

Halloween in Park West

Join in the fun as the Mount Pleasant Recreation Department holds the annual Halloween celebration on Wednesday, October 24th at Park West! Enjoy trick or treating, games, crafts, face painting, a jump castle, and refreshments. Costumes are encouraged! For ages 2-5. 

The event is located at the Park West Recreation Fields and will go from 12-1:30 PM.

Carolina One Main Street Trunk or Treat

Check out the Main Street parking lot in Summerville on Thursday, October 25th and celebrate Halloween with the Carolina One agents and staff. They will have their trunks set up with treats for kids of all ages! This is a safe alternative to trick-or-treating. Don't forget to dress in your best costume! 

Event will be held on Thursday, October 25th from 6-7:30 PM!

Trick or Treat in the Park 

Check out Hampton Park by the lagoon on Friday, October 26 from 4-6 PM for the City of Charleston Recreation Department’s annual Trick or Treat in the Park Halloween event.

The event will include hay rides, pony rides, arts and crafts, jump castles, games, live music, and lots of goodies provided by City of Charleston departments,local businesses and organizations! There will also be a costume contest so come dressed to impress.

Moncks Corner Halloween Festival 

Check out the 7th Annual Moncks Corner Halloween Festival on Friday, October 26th from 5:30-10 PM. Located in Downtown Moncks Corner spanning from Carolina Avenue to Railroad Avenue. There will be a constume contest for those ages 8 and under in the Market Pavilion. As well as an outdoor movie at the Regional Recreation Complex after dark!

Films on the Field at MUSC Stadium

Movie nights at MUSC Health Stadium, branded Films on the Field, feature a wide selection of movies shown on our 3,000 square foot video board. Check out this years Halloween feature Hocus Pocus on Friday October 26th! 

  • Gates open at 5:30 PM and the movie starts at 6:30 PM
  • Tickets are $5, admission is free for kids 6 and under

Join in on the first ever Owl-O-Ween an educational family-friendly exploration of the wonderful world of Owls hosted by the Center for Birds of Prey. The event will feature owl-specific crafts, storytelling, and an all owl flight demonstration.

The event will be held on Saturday, October 27th 10:30 AM

Halloween Comic Fest @ Captain’s Comics and Toys

Halloween Comic Fest is coming to Captain's Comics and Toys off of Sam Rittenberg Blvd. on Saturday, October 27th from 10 AM-6 PM. Stop by and get a FREE comic book! Come in costume, and get more FREE comic books!

Check out these awesome events hosted by Palmetto Claygroud in the Northwoods Mall. Whether you're a Big Kid who loves Halloween or the Littlest Trick-or-Treater painting for the first time, you will receive a FREE Ceramic Pumpkin to Paint for showing your Spooky Spirit! All you have to do is come ready to paint all decked out in your Halloween costume! This is a walk in on-going event from Oct 27 - Nov 2 with no age limit.

Boo Fest Workshop Charleston

Workshop Charleston is hosting a family and dog friendly second annual Boo Fest on Saturday, October 27th from 12-3 PM. After a stop at the Pacific Box & Crate Farmer's Market (9 AM to 1 PM), head over to the courtyard for a dog costume contest, photo booth and live entertainment.

Workshop kitchens will be offering $4 kids meals, plus Halloween candy - so costumes are encouraged! Bites and drinks will be available in the courtyard and the lawn, special guests & prizes for the best pup costumes as well!

Trunk or Treat, Movie in the Park & Costume Contest

Join the Hanahan Recreation Department for the annual Trunk or Treat / Costume Contest held at the Hanahan Amphitheater on Saturday, October 27th at 6:00 PM. There will also be a Movie in the Park right afterwards showing Hotel Transyvania 2.

Christ Church Trunk or Treat

Christ Church in Mount Pleasant is hosting a Trunk or Treat on Sunday, October 28 from 4:30-6 PM. Members of the congregation are invited to decorate a car trunk in a festive way and give Halloween treats to kids. This is a fun, safe, and family friendly event. Salsa Sunday Halloween Social 

Come for some scary good fun! Join Holy City Salsa Dance Studio on Sunday, October 28th for the costume contest with a $50 cash prize and a FREE intro to Salsa lesson from 7:30-8 PM! From 8-11 PM there will be a $10 social! There will be dancers of all levels! This event is BYOB and tons of fun...with LOTS of dancing!

Come join the Mount Pleasant Recreation Department in a ghoulish FREE Halloween celebration in the Old Village on Tuesday, October 30th from 12-1:30 PM. Enjoy trick or treating, games, face painting, a jump castle, and pony rides. Costumes are encouraged! For ages 2-5.

Join in on the family friendly fun of Trunk-or-Treat hosted by Northwood Church in Summerville. Enjoy food trucks, candy, carnival games, and lots of scheduled activities for all age groups. The entire event is FREE with the exception of purchasing meals from the food trucks. Costumes are encouraged! The event will be held on Wednesday, October 31st from 6-8:30 PM.

IOP Halloween Carnival

Check out the Isle of Palms Halloween Carnival on Wednesday, October 31st from 5-7 PM.
