This is why I don’t like the Insurance Contests that you see at basketball games.  Student Jack Lavery hits a half-court shot at the buzzer during a halftime contest, but little does he know at the time that he wouldn't be collecting any of the $10,000 prize money.

Lavery had to make a layup, free throw, 3-pointer and half-court shot in the 25 seconds allotted.  However -  the half-court shot had to be made on the first and only shot to have won.

Jack Lavery signed a contract that spells out the rules clearly before participating in the contest.  The contract he received 3 minutes before the contest.  And the MC of the event was encouraging him to continue to make the shot.

Yeah – sounds real fair to me L
