Listen to Hinder on iHeartRadio

Hinder and frontman Austin Winkler are officially parting ways.  The band announced the singer's departure Wednesday, explaining that the "difficult decision" was the "best thing for everyone involved."

Neither party has offered a specific explanation for the split, although Winkler has struggled with drug addiction in the past.  He entered a rehab facility after the recording of Hinder's 2012 album Welcome to the Freakshow, and also took a leave of absence from the band's tour earlier this year for "personal reasons."

Hinder continued the trek with Saving Abel's Jared Weeks filling in on vocals, although they've yet to announce a more permanent replacement for Winkler.  Still, drummer Cody Hanson says he and his bandmates are excited about the group's next chapter.

Winkler was an original member of Hinder when the band came together in 2001.  They found the most success with their 2005 debut Extreme Behavior and the album's hit single, "Lips of an Angel."
