Police are investigating a shooting in North Charleston.

Police responded to 1912 East Montague Avenue near Railroad Avenue around 5:30 Monday night for a shooting.

Police say they found a 21-year-old male with gunshot wounds. The man told police he was shot several times. According to the police report, officers saw gunshot wounds on his right forearm and the right side of his abdomen. He was transported to the Medical University of South Carolina for treatment.

Police say the victim refused to tell police who shot him or even where the incident took place.

One witness told police that they heard two gunshots and saw a man run across East Montague towards Morningside Drive and the victim running towards E. Montague Market.

Crime scene investigations are analyzing possible blood found in the parking lot.

Officers detained one person who witnesses say was on-scene at the time of the shooting for further questioning.
