From The Associated Press:
ROCK HILL, S.C. (AP) — A 34-year-old Rock Hill man spent nearly a month in jail after he was charged with an armed robbery police now say he didn't commit.
The Herald of Rock Hill reports that Jason Thatcher was released from jail Friday.
Thatcher was charged with robbing a CVS on July 2. But police said they now have a different suspect in a string of similar robberies in South Carolina and North Carolina.
Rock Hill police said the suspect drives a car similar to Thatcher's car. After the robbery, a police dog followed a scent 20 blocks to a home, where a man identified Thatcher as a suspect.
Police wouldn't talk about why the person at the home would falsely blame Thatcher, and his family isn't sure either.
