Police are investigating a shooting in North Charleston that left one person dead Wednesday night.
According to the North Charleston Police Department spokesman Spencer Pryor, officers responded to the mobile home park in the 4600-block of West Montague Avenue around 7:00 p.m. for reports of gunfire.
"According to witnesses, a black Kia was departing the mobile home park when it almost struck the victim", said Pryor in an email to News 2. "The victim then allegedly hit the car and confronted the driver. The suspect stepped from the vehicle and an altercation occurred leading to the driver firing shots at the victim who later fled to the rear of a mobile home."
Medics took the unidentified victim to MUSC, where doctors pronounced him dead.
NCPD officers arrested 29-year-old Dustin Backman a short distance from the crime scene.
Backman is charged with murder, and could face a bond court judge as early as Thursday morning.
