COLUMBIA, S.C. - State lawmakers will debate Tuesday whether or not to make the College of Charleston South Carolina's third full-fledged research university.
"The State" reports that a squabble between state senators and Lieutenant Governor, Glenn McConnell, is threatening to kill the plan.
Senate majority leader Harvey Peeler and Senator John Courson have stated they want the summer to study the proposal. Both think soon-to-be College of Charleston President McConnell played politics to fast-track the bill.
The bill's fate will be decided Tuesday during a conference committee meeting.
