GEORGETOWN, SC -
Thursday, Governor Nikki Haley, along with several state and local leaders toured the damage site along Front Street in Georgetown.
Fire officials remained on scene overnight monitoring hot spots. Police also monitored the site and fences were constructed to block the effected area.
Crews said the clean up effort is on hold until SLED completes an arson investigation. There is no word on how long that would take.
Nine families were displaced by the fire that destroyed seven buildings in the historic district. Red Cross is also on scene providing assistance to the families and first responders.
Authorities confirmed the businesses that were damaged in the fire, they are: Goudelock (home and garden), Limpin james (restaurant), Harbor Walk Market (grocery store), Buzzes Roost ( restaurant), Zest (restaurant), Doodle bugs (kids boutique), Harbor Walk Books (bookstore) Colonial Florist, Witzell Art.
A relief fund has been set up at First Citizens Bank called Front Street Fire Relief Fund. You can donate to the fund at any first Citizens Bank or call 843-546-8591.
